Advanced is the hardest Difficulty in the Dark Castle Series, and It has appeared in every entry of the Series.

Intermediate is the hardest Difficulty, and contains hardest level design, and a lot more Enemies.

• Lots more Enemies.

• Shortest time between Gargoyle appearances.

• The Black Knight's mugs bounce twice.

• When beaten on Advanced the game continues, and is slightly harder, with the Black Knight's mugs bouncing an extra time for each other time you beat the game.

• Lots more Enemies.

• The Black Knight's mugs bounce twice.

It is currently unknown how this will work in Return to Dark Castle.
